influenza in Western Pa

  1. My nephews have been very ill for three days. Have been diagnoses with type A. Apparently the flu that has been south of us in NC, SC and Georgia has finally caused an outbreak up here. It is a little late in season for a flu outbreak but it happens.

    Yes, a little late but not too late. We are starting to see it in the community, but it has not hit the nursing facilities yet in CT and RI. I am crossing my fingers. Maybe we will get lucky this year.

    One of my perdiem clerks unable to work due to flu lat week....looks like a late year in PA.

    How is this for a theory. It is community based because large percentages of older adults and people with chronic illnessess have had the flu shot. Healty school age children and adults have not been vaccinated and they are the ones getting it. This theory only works if the strain of flu going around happens to be in the flu shot. In this case it is.
