Hey y'all,

I'm a new grad and moving to Pittsburgh in January. I submitted my licensing application a few months ago and I was finally notified that I had some errors. When I resubmit with the correct things, will I be able to get a temporary license to work immediately? It took them over three months to tell me I had errors, I'm afraid that it will take another few months to see that I'm ok and give me a temporary license.

They wanted a State Background Check instead of local, no transcripts sent to them yet, and missing Child Abuse CE)

I already got my state background check, and my school isn't sending transcripts until after graduation in three days. I'm looking to see if I can take this CE course in New Orleans while I'm still here.

The child abuse ceu can be completed online. The easiest place to do so is through the university of Pittsburgh. You can google Act 31 University of Pitt and find the training. You have to register but it is free to do so. It’s a several hour training where the slides are timed, which is grueling. However, the university of Pitt sends your ceu completion directly to the board of nursing.

You can do the child abuse course online. Also, are you getting the PA license via endorsement or taking the NCLEX? You need to have an active license to get a full TPP. However, you can get a graduate temp permit, but you need to be practicing with a fully licensed RN. Also, as I said in the other thread you need a background check from every state you've lived, worked, or attended school in.

When I called the PA Board, they said what you stated above, but added "within the last 10 years".

I'm a new grad so I still need to take the NCLEX.

Thanks everyone for giving me the online info. I was able to complete it today.

I love New Orleans + Homa area....Did you graduate from Charity??? I've visited many times, mostly 2wks at Mardi Gras --last year spent 16 days with my SIL. I live in Philadelphia, opposite end of state from Pittsburgh --contact me anytime if you need info/advice.

Hello, I am from NJ and have my NJ nursing license and need some help with attaining the PA license by endorsement. Can anyone run through the steps they went through? Thank you!!

First take a look at the application. You'll need to follow the instructions for a background check and the online NJ licence verification. You'll also have to complete a CE on Child Abuse online. If you already had a job lined up you can fairly quickly get a temporary permit for an additional $70.
