Hi everyone, I just got an interview at UMC las Vegas for a PACU position. The interviewer told me that I don't fit in the position I applied for since that PACU is the main one which the nurses mostly have to take care of the patients in the ICU so they are looking for nurses who has experience in ICU. She told me I fit in the other department which is in a day surgery. She told me that there is no position yet but she will give my paperworks to HR and she will tell HR that she already interviewed me and waiting for a position to open. She also said that she promised that a position will open and I just have to be patient. So, right now I'm very anxious. First, does this mean I'm hired but just waiting for a position to open? (i didn't even asked her because I was shocked and excited) Second, is there any UMC nurses there that has the same experience that I have? I'm so anxious in waiting since I don't know how long will I wait for the position and thinking that HR might forget about me. Please help me. Lol

Unless you have a job offer in hand, you are not hired. Sounds like they're keeping your info on file and that is it. I would not consider this a done deal at all- keep looking. If it works out and something really does open up, great! More likely, you will spend time waiting while you have have been getting experience and a salary elsewhere.
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I'm still keeping the job that I have right now until they call me for the position. She mentioned to me that "atleast you have your foot in the door and for now start getting your PALS" all those words that she was using makes me think that she is hiring me. oh well, it's true though unless I have a letter saying I'm hired.
