Senate impeachment trial arguments to start February 9

Quote

The second Senate impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump is scheduled to begin on February 9 after Senate leaders reached a deal to push it back, giving Trump's legal team more time to prepare and Senate Democrats a chance to consider Covid-19 legislation and to confirm President Joe Biden's Cabinet.

House Democrats will formally walk over the single article of impeachment against Trump to the Senate on Monday evening, but the agreement between Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell will push back the substance of the trial until February. Without an agreement, the trial would have started the afternoon after the article was transmitted to the Senate....

...Under the agreement, the ceremonial functions of the trial will occur next week, with the articles being presented on Monday and senators being sworn in as jurors on Tuesday. Then the trial will pause, while the House impeachment managers and Trump's legal team exchange pre-trial briefs for two weeks. The final briefs would be due on February 9, allowing the trial itself to begin...

With the sting of the Capitol uprising behind us and fading Republicans are waffling a bit.

They will be held to account politically, financially, and historically if they ignore evidence to convict. At this time they may think supporting Trump will benefit them, but they are wrong.  The taint of Trump will end their political careers in the long run.  There are not enough Trump supporters to pay (big donors or small donors) or pave their ways to victory.  Also, they will look like the buffoons that they are in the annals of US history.  The fall-out of January 6 is not over yet.

Notice how Cruz is trying to remain silent in the hopes no one recalls his involvement so he can run as a normal Republican for President with Trump's backing?  However, we will not forget January 6 and Cruz's part in it and his response hours later.  On the other hand, Hawley knows his political career is over.  He is  panicking and taking up every minute of everyday on Fox Noise begging far-right Q crazies and Trump supporters to believe he is a victim when he has the blood of real victims on his hands!  He thinks he can get Trump supporters and Trump to fight for his political future.  Like Cruz, he is done.
