Excuse my ignorance but I never work with feeding tubes. I had a patient that has a PEG tube for about 2 months. Previously had hiatal hernia surgery. My question is what is this PEG doing for the patient right now if not being used? No tube feeding, on a regular diet, takes meds PO. She will be getting it out in a few weeks. I only have orders to flush it daily and PRN, and do skin care.

Have you asked what it was placed for? Generally, they are left in place for longer than necessary to ensure it’s not needed again.
