Peds HESI exam was a joke.

We just finished peds/ob and we had our practice HESI exam for peds content only.

The book and study material didn't come in on time, so we had nothing to go on except the content from our peds class. Well, id say 75% of the HESI exam we never covered, so basically it was pointless.

But then im thinking, aren't these courses suppose to be preparing us for state boards? WHY weren't we taught that info?

If any RN's can give me some insight, id appreciate it. Did you ever come across stuff on your NCLEX that you were never taught?

you are scaring me- I have a HESI next week. I know you cant tell me exact questions, but what do you mean your school didnt cover it?

I mean the content of our course was not the material that was on the HESI exam. I mean some of it was, but even the material that I was familiar with, we didn't learn the stuff they were asking!

We were suppose to get study material but it didn't show up in time.

I'm wanting to prepare for the HESI exam asap. No bookstore in Austin has a studyguide available. They all seem to have the N-CLEX. Are the materials similar or do they cover entirely different materials?? Does anyone know of a resourceful website with information on where I can purchase an informative studyguide for the HESI?? Thanks

From what I understand based on what they told us before we took our HESI for health assessment, it's up to the professor to choose the questions for the exam. I took mine several weeks ago and there were several questions I had to guess off the top of my head. Ugh. And I have to take HESI every semester for each class.

not true it is a nationally written exam. Instructors have no control over the questions

RE: HESI study guide - I was just in Major Books (by Parkland, in Dallas) about 2 weeks ago looking for some additional help with my A & P class. I noticed in the nursing section that they had 20+ copies of the HESI study guide. I'm not sure how many different ones they make (I have the HESI A2 guide for the nursing entrance test), but maybe they can ship it to you. They have all sorts of medical books on different levels since Parkland, Children's, TWU, and UT Southwestern are in the proximity. I'm sorry, I don't know the exact name of the store, but it the key words that you can google are "Majors text/books" in Dallas (I believe it is on Butler Street). Best of luck!

You can get a HESI study guide from the HESI website ( ELSEVIER ) .

As far as the exams go, for the end of course exams, those are designed by HESI. From what we are told, they cover topics that are testable on the NCLEX. I took a comprehensive exam for each class and the exit HESI last week, so I don't know how it compares to NCLEX personally, but all of the HESI test were simular.

In some of my classes, all of our exams were HESI, in this instance, the professors sent in topics that were to be on each exam and HESI created the test off of that information. The test that we took at the end of these courses were the standard HESI cumulative course exams.
