Hi all,

I would like to work with kids that have OI - any thoughts on where the big clinics are? My thoughts would be Boston, or any city that has Shriners.

Here's one in Baltimore! Any reason why you're drawn to these kids?

Specializes in pediatrics, orthopedics.

I would guess that most hospitals on this list have a good deal of patients with OI.

meanmaryjean, I would really like to adopt an OI kid, if life aligns. My life is pretty mobile, and while I would rather be near family, relocating to be near doctors who know which way is up with complex kids would be a possibility.

I work in a large Children's hospital on the ortho floor and see a decent amount of OI patients. :)

Specializes in Med-Surg/Neuro/Oncology floor nursing..

I think St Jude Children's research hospital has a great OI program(especially if they get BMTs for severe OI...http://www.stjude.org/stjude/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=8e360307f6e70110VgnVCM1000001e0215acRCRD&vgnextchannel=5d05bfe82e118010VgnVCM1000000e2015acRCRD&SearchUrl=search_results.jsp&QueryText=osteogenesis%20imperfecta)...sorry I know it's a long link. While St Jude is most known for treating children with cancer, they also treat other pediatric catastrophic diseases. In New York city, New York Presbyterian(Morgan Stanley children's hospital) and NYU have great OI programs, New York Hospital Queens treats it also..I am guessing any major city in the country has at least one hospital that has an OI program.
