Hello!
I am currently taking prerequisites for nursing school. My goal is to be a pediatric or a neonatal nurse. I love working with children. I have been an elementary physical education teacher (pre-K to 6th) for nine years. I was also a patient care tech on a med surg (adults) floor and at a pediatric rehab clinic. Are new grads hired as pediatric nurses? Do you have to do extra training to be a pediatric nurse? Are there nurses on here that have only been in pediatrics or neonatal nursing? Thank you!

New grads re more likely to be hired at a children's hospital. Most pediatric units at adult hospitals are small.
There are many nurses that have only worked in pediatric nursing. I started working in NICU as new grad.
