Pediatric Home Health Questions

Hello, I am a recen graduate trying to find my "niche" and Im afraid I never will. I'm am

an LPN and have been working in a past acute rehab facility. I have 15 patients to see on a daily basis with treatments, medications, accuchecks, insulin injections, the list goes on. I also have to do all my charting by hand as our facility doesn't have an EMR system yet. I'm so stressed and overwhelmed that I am a nervous wreck half the time. I've been offered a job in pediatric home health and was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their experience? My main fear is boredom and dealing with the family. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Check out both the home health and private duty forums and you will find plenty of grist about peds extended care to give you an idea of what to expect. Yes, it can become boring, but when that happens, you figure out what to do to spice things up, to include asking for another case. So, you need not remain bored for long. The lure of one patient is a strong reason to choose this area of nursing, if nothing else, for a break from your present routine. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. I will definitely check those forums out!
