What happens during a peanut allergy usually? Rash, throat swelling, etc? Or vomiting? Just curious...thanks!

It all depends on how severe the allergy is..there is no standard for a peanut allergy reaction. Depends on the child..
anything from hives to anaphylactic shock.

Instead of researching what happens in one specific allergen's case, review the different types of hypersensitivity reactions as the reactions are essentially universal-- in other words, when people are exhibiting a systemic type I hypersensitivity reaction their symptoms will be the same as will the treatment.

Before I realized my oldest was allergic to tree nuts, she would complain that she didn't like them. One time my grandfather served us a dessert with pecans in the crust. I told her to eat around them and was greatly annoyed when she threw up in the trash can. (Poor kid! :>( I didn't know!) The next time she got ahold of nuts, she had a more severe reaction, vomiting and hives and it became quite clear that there was an allergy involved. Her most recent reaction involved vomiting, severe stomach pains, profuse diaphoresis, minimal hives (which was unusual for her) and she was starting to cough and get tight when we get the epi pen and albuterol inhaler. (She'd already taken benadryl)
As you probably know, reactions can start out mild or start out severe. FAAN.org is a good reference for further education.
