I'm a nursing student and just bought a PDA - can anyone suggest a supplier of affordable software - such as med. dictionary or drug reference ... Most suppliers I've come across are US and hence expensive! Thanks:)

If you do a search on this forum for "PDA"or "Palm Pilot" you should get a large list of sites that you can go to and get some free downloads that you can use.

Epocraties is a great one to have its downloaded at the palm site just look under medical and it will have it there it lists all the drugs and is a personal pdr to have and it has alot of useful information and the calculations needed I wish I had this while I was in nursing school to be honest
There is also a few that has signs and symptoms and diagnosis's but they can range from 50 bucks to much higher try the free downloads and see how they work for you and then choose what works for you and your needs and save your space for what you need and not games lol
Good luck to you with school

Hi Soo Girl
PDA cortex http://www.PDAcortex.com is a Halifax NS based website that a focuses on nursing PDAs ( we have the largest selection of nursing PDA software anywhere online) --- yes all of our commercial software is quoted in $USD (that's because nurses world wide access the site) but you'll find that once the exchange rate is calculated the prices are in line with what you would expect to pay in $CND.
You'll also find a lot of freeware on the site http://www.pdacortex.com/software_palm.htm

Ken

I have been using PDA for about six months, and love it. I would suggest two things. First, visit http://www.rnpalm.com, secondly ask around your institution. Many workplaces and universities have limited use, or freeware or shareware versions of PDA software available. Remember, trial the software first if possible and be aware of patient confidentiality if entering datta on your PDA.
Hope this helps.
