PCC/MHCC/OHSU Fall 2020

Published

Hey-

Hoping to connect here with any updates/news on this application cycle. I've applied to PCC,MHCC, OHSU AccBacc/3yr, Linfield and Clark CC (Vancouv).

I’m alternative #16 at MHCC this year...

How about yourself? Anyone else an alternative?

Any updates? With alternates?

I know of one person that gave up their alternate spot since they were accepted elsewhere but they were in the teens for alternate position.

Jtran being #16 is good! I am sure you will be accepted, my alternate number is in the 30's

Hey guys! I’m #10 on the waitlist for MHCC but got accepted into UCC. I need advice because I would rather live in Portland than Roseburg(UCC) but I already have a definite in there and I know we need to choose by June 15. Thoughts?

Hi Jeweliana ?

I believe both schools are in partnership with OCNE so the curriculum would be the same. I would also look at the NCLEX pass rate for each school. This is not an indicator that you would pass the exam or that the faculty is better at one school, but I know this may be important to some people. I would also look into the clinical location options you may have. In Portland/Gresham area you may have the opportunity to have clinicals at more I guess urban areas. It depends on what you are looking for, do you want to work in an urban or rural area?

Thank you MRA? I would rather work in an urban area, MHCC is my first choice. But what I’m worried about is declining UCC and not getting into MHCC since I’m only an alternate. I want to say yes to MHCC but what if they don’t get to my alternate number and I already turned down an acceptance at UCC

Last year, one of my friends was alternate #8 and he got in for fall term after we had orientation. I think they made it to alternate 17 or 18 total last year. I was #29.

I wish there was a way to be able to tell for sure!

Does anyone know if they have been calling alternates to be accepted yet? Or when do they start doing that?

Hi! Has anyone heard from PCC? They said by the beginning of June ?

I haven’t heard from PCC yet! Hopefully next week.

And as for when MHCC notify us alternates I have no idea, I’ll let you guys know if I hear from them!

I'm assuming they let alternates know as space becomes available.

If I were you, see where it'd be easier to get around too for clinicals, I have never heard of the other school just mhcc.

Which school is less money, less living cost and look at reviews for the schools. Review how you'd live at each location getting around, support system, etc. It and easy to get into nursing school, and it's only going to get more competitive because of number of students applying for less spots. Think about if itd be easier to live temporarily in a place you dont prefer to become a nurse versus waiting to see if mhcc opens up.

I haven’t heard from PCC yet ? I thought there was a chance we might hear back this week since they said “end of May beginning of June” ... I really would like to get in to PCC! (I’m an alternate at Clackamas and Linn Benton) Good luck , keep us posted if you hear anything ? ?
