Hi everyone, I thought I would start a thread for all the applicants of the Portland, OR area that applied to the schools above. Who else applied ? :)
I applies to all 3 and am waiting for the hear about the 1st round around the middle to end of March. Fingers crossed, hope to make some new contacts, good luck everyone!
I can really use some help figuring out what I want to do. I got into OHSU! And, I got into Clackamas! I haven't heard from PCC yet, and I won't until May 21st (I asked them today, and they said they're still on track to send out emails on the 21st). If money wasn't a factor (which it actually really is, but I'm trying to really think about all the factors, not just debt), I'm not sure which way to go. When I went to my interview, the students I met at Clackamas couldn't stop talking about how much they loved their program. One said he had gotten into OHSU too and some others and he chose Clackamas due to the small group and the resources there and the great staff.
I used to work at OHSU for years, so it feels like home to me, and I love that academic medical environment. But it comes with a higher price tag that I'd have to justify.
Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts about what makes the most sense...
I know this is a very good problem to have, and I'm REALLY shocked that I got accepted anywhere, so I'm over the moon excited. I just don't know what to decide!!!

After researching a bunch these past few months about the different programs, I heard nothing but amazing things about clackamas! The students I talked too couldn't say enough great things, the instructors seemed amazing as well. I found that a lot of people decline other schools as soon as they get accepted to CCC. The cost, although it doesn't seem like a huge factor, makes CCC even more appealing. Think about parking, traffic to and from school, and the debt when considering ohsu. I'm facing a similar dilemma, so I understand how you feel!! So many things to consider. Also, remember that you complete your bachelors up on the hill at ohsu, so you will end up there in the end :)
I live on the west side, so OHSU and PCC make more sense from just a day-to-day traffic and access perspective. Getting to/from Clackamas with respect to my home and work will be tougher. I guess my only thing with OHSU is that I really sold myself as a leader and someone who is interested in likely getting a masters at some point, which they really encouraged. I think starting there would make that more likely. But yes, I'd end up there at the end regardless. It's more expensive for sure. But I thought OHSU was my first choice, so it would feel so weird to reject them. I REALLY wish PCC would let people know sooner. They make the most sense in terms of cost and location for me, but at this point, I'm not even factoring them in, since I'll have to give Clackamas my answer first. With all the things people have been saying about Clackamas, it feels like I won the lottery getting in there and i should take it. I'm going to think on all of this over the next week and hopefully be able to make a decision! Thanks so much for your thoughts, @sarase091!
I've only heard good things about CCC as well!! I interviewed there, but haven't gotten an email yet. When did you get yours/ what does your last name start with?
I was accepted at MHCC, which is where I took all my prerequisites, but honestly I think if I got accepted to CCC I'd probably chose them! It's unlikely though since I only had 51 points for the interview
Congratulations! That's so exciting. Look at their homepage in the news section! They were voted the best nursing program in Oregon on this one website.
My last name starts with an S so I'm guessing it'd be today hopefully! I just want to know one way or another so I know what to do with MHCC
I've emailed a few of my friends who went to OHSU and are nurses now. I want them to tell me why it's worth spending the extra money to go there. Hopefully they'll have some good thoughts. One of them got his PhD there, so it seems if you're inclined to do teaching/research, OHSU is a great place to spend all 3 years.
I don't have to make a decision until next week, so guess I'll just do a bunch of soul searching over the weekend and think about what I really want.
