Can anyone tell me what a newly graduated nurse makes in the Detroit area?

Hi. i know that at Mt. Clemens General Hospital in Mt. Clemens, a new nurse with a 2 year degree starts out at $23 if they want to make their own hours, and $25 if you let them pick your hours. thats what a new graduate told me while i was visiting my dad in the hospital for 2 months this past december. if its correct, i have no idea.

I'm a recent grad (3/04) and work at St. John. New grads get 21.05/hr until they pass their boards-then get an increase after NCLEX success! This amount does not include shift/weekend premiums.

Mount Clemens pays 20/49 per hour for New Grads They are currently negotiaing the contract and things are pretty much in uphevel right now:o

Most hospitals in the Detroit area start off new grads at $20something. 21 is pretty high and I have found out that it is 21.00 as a new hire no matter what your experience is at most of the hospitals unless it is union. I started at NOMC at 22.26 with 4.00 differential for nights and 3.00 more for weekends. This is the best pay I foud while interviewing for a new position within the last month. :)

Specializes in LTC, ER.

the recruiter @ sinai-grace offered $26/hr, blew my mind, (don't know how great the working conditions are though).

Do you have a BSN or ADN when you graduated?

ADN, and i have since found out that the working conditions are kind of bad. lots of short staffing.

I applied in Detoit- ended up taking a job in Ann Arbor, though.

I'll fill ya in:

DMC: 22/hr base. There of course, are diff. time differentials to consider I think it's 1.85.

Henry Ford: 22.25 an hour Plus 7% night differential (Henry Ford pays for you to take an nclex course as well. I would've worked here if this NICU job in AA didn't open up.)

University of MIchigan is 21.00/hr with 1.00 evening diff and 1.25 night diff.

Let me know if you have any other questions

Hm, maybe I wasn't clear. They pay for an nclex course. It's a part of your orientation, I think
