Paxil for PRN anxiety?

Published

Hi everyone! I need your inputs/opinions. I just visited my physician earlier today and told her I get very bad anxiety/depression before I go to work. She prescribed Paxil for me to take daily. My question is, do I really need to take Paxil everyday or can I just take it as needed? I'm afraid that I may become dependent to it if I take it daily and would really like to take it only when I need it. Any inputs?? What anxiolytic is best for PRN use?? Thanks!!

However, it is commonly available information that Paxil (paroxetine) is an antidepressant and, like all antidepressants, works once a stable level is built up in the blood and maintained -- by taking regular daily doses. There would be no point (beyond any placebo effect you might get ...) to taking it on an occasional, prn basis.
