PAX-RN Pre-Entrance Exam.

Hello all! I have been lurking around this board for quite some time now, and thought I would give my first post a try since you all are so helpful.

My question was on the PAX-RN pre-entrance exam. I am scheduled to take it this Wednesday. I am not overly worried because I got the Review Guide book that NLN sells and have been through it front to back. I have also taken all of the practice tests in the book as well as the timed tests on the CD-ROM. Even though I have never taken Chemistry, Physics, or Biology, and have been out of high-school for 12 years, I am still scoring an 80-95% on the science portion tests. I even score that well on the math tests while timed (math is not my strength, however that guide has been a great review and has helped me very much). Normally I am strongest in reading comprehension and vocab, however I am scoring just under 80% for that portion. I have made flash cards for the roots/prefixes mentioned in the book to try out this weekend and see if it helps.

So basically, I just wanted to hear from those of you ladies and gentleman that have taken the Pax, and also studied the book. What were your scores? How well does that book actually help your score? And how well should I be doing on these practice tests in order to do well on the actual test?

My school requires a 105 composite score for consideration of your application. I would really like to get higher than that. I currently have a 4.0, but I want all the ammo I can get.

Any insight would be immensely appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

Anyone? I've searched the forums to try and find the answers I was looking for, and while I did find some good info, I was hoping to get some responses from those of you who have taken this test more recently. And I was also curious how you were scoring in the book/cd on practice tests. I guess I'm getting sort of nervous ;

Hi I took the PAX in march of this year. I used the study guide and did just fine I scored in the 85th percentile I don't exactly remember what my score was because my school only wanted you to score within the 60th percentile.

Please don't be nervous about this test you will do just fine. I was working night shift at the time I took this test and literally I left work and went straight to the school to test and I was exhausted. I didn't study the night before I just went with it. Mostly common knowledge. You will do fine. Good luck and let me know how you did. You should get your scores immediately after if your taking the computer test.

Thank you so much for your reply! I guess I'm not all that nervous because I have studied quite a bit and I kinda just have this attitude that I am going to kick butt! I feel that if you prepare yourself and have a positive attitude, things will work in your favor. But there's always just this little uncertainty in the back of my mind. You helped me squash it! I take it Wednesday. I will report back here with my scores. Thanks again!

Oh, have you been accepted into a nursing program yet?

I got a 129, and I applied to the ADN program. I am waiting to hear back. I doubt I will know anything until April. Fingers are crossed!

Hey, I am taking my nln test on feb 27th I have been doing very well on the practice tests from the book and getting the same scores as you. A 127 is a good score did you find the review book to be similar to the real test or should I study extra material ?

I bought an app in the App Store. And photocopied the review pages from the nln study guide fom my school library. It is nerve wrecking but just take it one question at a time . Also watch your time because I ran out and had to guess on the last 10 or so math questions. I felt like I was failing but I got a 140 composite score. 93rd percentile and I'm happy with that.

Also it helps that there are questions that aren't counted against you if you get them wrong. Any other questions feel free to message me
