I've found it interesting to watch over the years. Young, fresh nurses love their 12s. Then there are rotation changes with fewer days between shifts and the love starts to diminish. Some times the love changes as their families grow.
Mature nurses? It depends on the unit they work on. Personally, I've done both and I'll never go back to 12s. For six months of the year you don't see daylight. Exhausted all the time and no more long stretches off.
