Patient Care Tech's out there? How do I get your job?

I wanted to take the CNA class at JCCC this summer, but alas it filled up in 3min!! and I wasn't on the list :crying2:

Are there any hospitals that offer CNA training? I have NO experience nor education in healthcare, but have AA Degree-not that that helps. I eventually want to pursue an ADN degree, but in the mean time would like to work in a hospital. Anyone know how hard it is to land a patient care tech job? Do you absolutely need CNA certification, or does anyone train?

Thanks in advance!!

There are other ways to get a CNA besides going through JCCC. I am a student at JCCC but I took the CNA course through Kansas College of Nursing in Olathe. It was 5 weeks, Monday through Thursday 7am-2pm. Let me see if I can find a web link...

It was a little more expensive than JCCC's CNA but you will have an easier time getting into a class there. I feel that the CNA training there was fine, and I passed the test the first time I took it. The instructors I had were knowledgeable. The school is in a strip mall in Olathe, but don't be put off by the way it looks from the outside. A classroom is a classroom, and you'll have a great experience there.

You are so right.

I've heard of the College of Nursing in Olathe and am glad to hear it is a decent program! If I don't get into a CNA class for this fall I am definitely signing up with Olathe's.

Thanks for the link :-)
