Patient Care Tech??

Published

Specializes in LTC, wound care.

I have a RN friend who is trying to convince me that I should come to work

at her Hospital as a Patient Care Tech, I'm a LPN who is considering

getting their ADN and I've quite a few credits accumulated to that end.

I'm not sure about what I would be doing as a PCT, Currently I'm the night nurse at a small LTC and I do everything that is needed.

Just what are PCT's responsible for?

LPN does not stand for Little Pretend Nurse......

Patient care Tech is also called Nursing Assistant-certified.

Very ridiculous! LPN jobs now are very hard to find! Moving toward an RN is one step I cant wait to get!

Specializes in Psych/Rehab/Family practice/Oncology.

This makes no sense to me. Why if you're an LPN would she want you to work as a Tech? Unless your desire is to get hospital experience and this hospital doesn't utilize LPNs, I'd stay where you are, or go there as an LPN if they do utilize them. Seems also that you would make better money where you are than as a Tech, but I know, there are many other reasons to leave a job besides money. Either way, best luck to you in your career and ADN program if you choose to continue in school.
