Hello everyone-
I was curious to see what the most challenging part of passing the state boards were for you? Was it bed making, Bp, etc. I'll be taking my state boards next summer when I am completely done.
Thanks :redpinkhe

I think nerves get to most
Really memorize those steps.
Take a deep breath. Also work on measurments of liquids. I got these skills: feeding a resident, ambulatory with walker, weighing, pulse and respiration and temperature, and of course hand washing.
Just be ready and you will do great. The proctors want you to do well and pass, trust me.:)
Good luck you can do it
Thank you!! :)

I have no idea on the state, but I did the skills today in class and I ended up in tears!!! I am debating on whether I am capable to go to state or not. I had to do the assists with bedpan and placed it wrong, didn't raise the bed to my level for proper body mechanics, didn't tell the client I was going to leave and give them privacy, I touched the bedpan with both of my gloved hands and not just one hand, and I didn't pull the privacy curtain out of the way when I left. I was so nervous I forgot everything!!! When she told me I didn't make the 15/19 only 14/19, I cried!!! I couldn't believe I was being such a big baby. She let me redo the skill but I still placed the bedpan the wrong way and didn't pull the curtain open when I left!!!
I took a deep breath and did the other skills ok. I forgot some things but I would tell her when I forgot and she passed me. We start clinicals next week and I worried I am not ready.
Good luck to you.

i've only done 2 of the skills in my program so far. There are a lot of people in my class and it seems like it will take the instructors forever to get everyone's skills checked off. I failed my first attempt at Applying/removing PPE.
However, in our program, we do not have to do a skills portion for our state test. Since all of our skills are checked off at the facility, that counts as our skills portion! So I only have the written test to take.
