HELLO EVERYONE,

I GOT MY UNOFFICIAL RESULTS FROM PEARSONVUE 2 DAYS BACK AND IT SAYS I PASSED THE NCLEX RN:nurse:.NOW CAN I START APPLYING FOR JOBS OR DO I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE OFFICIAL LISCENCE.HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET THE OFFICIAL LISCENCE IN ILLINOIS AND IS THERE ANY PROCEDURE TO BE DONE FOR IT OR ANY FORMS TO BE FILLED?OR WILL THE IDFPR SEND IT ON THEIR OWN?I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KNOW THAT WHEN CAN I SEE MY NAME ON THE IBON WEBSITE?

I WOULD BE GRATEFUL IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME CLEAR MY DOUBTS.THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Hi, conrats on passing!!

I passed this month too. About a week after your test, continental testing will mail your results, and it will state that you can practice "license pending' for 90 days. You also will sign an enclosed paper, mail in $50 and then you should get your license in the next 4 weeks.

As far as a job, let me know how it goes for you. Here in the Chicago (and suburban)area I have had NO LUCK finding a job, and I think I have applied for about 25 or more:(. The classmates that graduated with me are having the same problem unless they have been working at the hospital as a tech.

thanks a lot for the information.well i never thought it would be so difficult to find a job after passing nclex rn. i have not yet started applying though.all the best to u.

Wow i cant imagine anyone having a problem finding a job. Keep looking and unless you are just really not wanting to go in depth work at getting a hospital position first. Even a couple years in an acute care facility will help you enormously later if you go into a clinic or long term care facility.

Try to find a job where you can practice what youve learned and let it set in your brain. Keep looking and show your eagerness to learn on your resume and applications. Good luck.

I'm in Chicago...

What type of RN jobs are you all looking for and in what area of the Illinois?

We all may be able to help if we know of positions open in our respective facilities.

I live in the Dupage county area, close to Metra if I wanted to take the train into the city. I have applied at all of the local hospitals (CDH, Good Sam, Edwards, Copley, Delnor, Mercy, St. Joes, Sandwich, Morris….maybe a few others LOL. Plus Rush, Childrens, Loyola, mostly med/surg positions. I agree that a hospital is the best place to practice my new skills, and gain experience, but have also started applying at local day surgery locations as well. I find that few hospitals have new grad positions this time of year. Despite web sites listing 25, 50 or more job openings, experience is required, and yes, I apply anyway. NurseRatched, I would appreciate any guidance you would offer, I am stumped, frustrated, and broke J.

Hey IN SCHOOL..........u were so right.I have applied at 10 different places but no response at all.i never thought it would be so difficult to find a job after studying for 4 yrs at the nursing school and after getting through the nclex rn.maybe because i am a new graduate but i am really frustrated. If anyone can give me some guidance as to what to do or if any of you guys know of any openings at any of the hospitals near bloomingdale/addison area, it would have been helpful.

I applied to three local hospitals and all three have offered me a postion, without even passing NCLEX yet...my schedule date is March 14!

I first filled out an on-line application and also mailed in an app.

After a few days, I faxed my cover letter and my resume to the HR Departments. The following day, I looked up the HR Managers' contact information at each hospital and sent them an email with my cover letter and resume attatched.

I finally called them after a week to chech on the status of my application. As soon as they saw my genuine interest and desire to work at their organization they set up an interview date with me. You have to be persistent, remember they have a lot of resumes just piled up somewhere and yours has to stand out.

Try using 100% cotton paper to print out your cover letter & resume on. Let them know how eager you are to begin your nursing career at their hospital.

Good Luck!

well finally i landed a job at a LTC near my house and i accepted it because i was really tired waiting for a job at a hospital.I would start working next week but my hunt for a hospital position still continues.

I did the exact same as above. I've been working for over a year in Chicago. But when I was in school I was a December Graduate and I had a job lined up and two other offers in October before graduation.

You just have to be persistent on your search. No recruiter is going to come knocking on your door unless you show the interest.
