Passed NCLEX

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello guys,

I promised to post a thread that would encourage others in preparation for NCLEX because I found that reading all these threads good and bad experiences helped me toughen out and become stronger when taking the NCLEX. I had horrible scores in any questions practice. I had low scores in Kaplan and Hurst and Lipincott. I think my average would come around 40-50%. So I'd like to encourage others that it's not all about the scores it is honestly being humble and persevering studying as much as you can and of course prayers go a long way despite where your beliefs may lie I'm glad someone here in the forum shared a prayer which really helped me in studying (+Prayers to St. Joseph of Cupertino for Success in Examinations+) If you guys feel you need extra support spiritually I found it helped me because honestly preparing for this exam is a mix of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual fight with yourself and a whole bunch of books and info. I really needed a combination of everything when preparing for this exam and I didn't want to listen to people who said it's possible only studying for a week or a day or a weekend. It's good that some people can do that but I cannot. I am an average student in school some subjects I do well some I don't but it's really important to review content and go over questions and really prepare for this exam as much as you can. Each of us have different ways of studying and different approaches. Some people study for the whole day, half a day, or 2-4h. I personally could not study more than 8hours a day I stuck to it for a whole month. But when you get to the exam you'll be amazed how much you can remember despite freaking out the week before that you can't remember anything.

To sum up, study hard, be prepared as much as you can. And try to remain as confident as you can. Good luck to all those taking the exam.

I'm nervous, on my Hurst exams I have been averaging about 45-60%. I'm am freaking out because I see people are averaging in the 80%. And when I take these practice exams I freak out even more because I find out there is still a lot more I don't know. But congrats to you, i'm glad to know an average student can also pass. Praying everyday has helped ease my stress.

Thanks for posting, i worry all the time about my scores not being where they are. But everyone also says not to worry about the scores. to me the scores are more of a way to know im on the right track. But then again we never know what questions we will be asked lets just hope they ask the ones we know lol! I retake next week and im starting to get very nervous.

@JPGasmin, BSN: This was the main reason why I wanted to post here because like you I was freaking out because people would post their marks with 80% and say they are scared and feel like they are not good enough, what about the other people that are scoring 40-60s how do they think we feel? So I just wanted to say it is possible to pass without getting sky high marks. That lady at hurst always says we just need to pass. And I also felt the same about not knowing enough and needing to learn more, that's fine. I think the anxiety kind of made me pass in a way because I always wanted to learn more each and every day so instead of feeling defeated and a quitter, I invested more and more time studying about things I didn't know, who cares about the grades on questions because NCLEX will have more than enough questions that we didn't even do. And yes prayer helped me every day as well it was probably the most powerful thing that helped going and of course support from family and friends. BUT even they were getting irritated haha only God wasn't well he couldn't complain to me more like it.

@pithoud2 : I am sending positive wishes to your second try I just want to encourage you and applaud you for standing back up and going back to take the exam that alone takes a lot of courage! I hope you continue to study and learn and retain more info, you will be successful just think of it like that! Your so right we never really know what questions they'll ask so don't be so down if question results are low. Just keep going and review the ones you got wrong. Writing the exam wasn't as bad as preparing for the exam. I felt so alone when I prepared for it and no amount of advice got through me (I think because I was soo hardheaded), in any case I don't know your character fully but I hope me encouraging you as small as it may be will make a dent and create positvity towards your preparation. (Now I sound like a Hippie shooting flowers to people taking tests.. no offence to hippies out there I love them).

I can't seem to edit my first post but and I forgot to say I had 75qs and had soo much Satas I forgot to count after 28.. So maybe I went passed 30 even.

Congrats and thank you for your post. I am encouraged to continue the fight.

Coongratulations!!!!! Im happy for you!! :)

Thank you, i am retaking on friday and i am ready to try again and pass! i just keep thinking positive and reviewing and doing practice questions. I am praying i got it down this time. i start my job on the following monday and my test results depend on what position i will be getting.

Before I took my exam I have stumbled upon your post and find it motivating! I just took my nclex and passed with 75 questions! This was my 3rd take and I almost gave up!I used hurst and it really helped me with my test taking. I always pray for strength and guidance to endure this examination and I thank God for everything and also prayed to St. Joseph of Cupertino before entering the examination room!

I'm soo happy I got to motivate you Nathan! And congrats on passing!!! You deserve it :)

Good luck to every student taking the exam out there!
