I took my NCLEX-RN on Wednesday April 9th and I passed with just 75 questions!!!!!
I paid for the Feuer Nursing Review and it helped me with content, the q&a's they give you are terrible, much harder than what I saw on NCLEX. While studying, after doing a few of the Feuer q&a's, I gave up on that and just focused on Kaplan.
Here is how I used Kaplan. I did the entire qbank, and wrote down every single rationale for every question I got wrong, guessed, or just did not understand. If I still needed clarity, I would do research on that specific topic. I averaged 50% on the qbanks, which I personally think is terrible. If I were you, I wouldn't focus on my scores or let them discourage me, what's important is understanding what you did wrong, how you went wrong and making sure it does not happen again. I am going to share my scores with you, so you can see you can still pass with mediocre scores....My test stopped at 75 questions and I was done in 1 hour and 15 minutes, the majority of people say they feel horrible after they finish their test and feel as if they failed but I walked out of my test with a smile on my face, feeling confident and knowing I kicked the tests butt. You just have to apply yourself, and find a study method that works for you. And get organized!!! I felt very prepared going into the test, I studied for weeks for 7-8 hours per day!
qtrainer 1- 74.7
qtrainer 2- 69.3
qtrainer 3- 50
qtrainer 4- 48.7
qtrainer 5- 53.3
qtrainer 6- 54.5
qtrainer 7- 54
See? My scores were terrible, everyone says in order to pass the nclex you have to be getting 60's, well I didn't and I passed!!! I got discouraged for a few days but I got my act together, and worked harder to understand and learn the ones I got wrong!!!
I also did all of the sample tests, and all of the qtrainers and did the exact same thing. I filled 3 100 page reem notebooks with purely rationales. I would read over them everyday before going to bed. My fear were SATA, so what I did was I took the Alternative Sample Test 4 times until I made sure I got them right and understand why the answers were those answers (not memorize because that won't help you.) I also focused on the priorities sample test. Don't be afraid of SATA, remember the more you get on the nclex, the better you are doing. I got like 18!! When I was taking my test, I was begging for more. Don't be scared of them, the majority of mine were related to teaching and things that were pretty much common sense (if you've studied of course).
Know your lab values, it is crucial!!
Have faith, picture yourself passing, study Kaplan, you can do it.
St. Joseph of Cupertino has a beautiful prayer for students taking examinations, I would pray to him every night and prayed to him before and during my test.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!
