I'm new to the site but I have been stalking you all for a while :). I graduated in May 2014. I took Nclex on July 16 2014 @ 8AM. I must say that test was crazy. I guessed my way through the entire test. There were only 4 questions where I knew the answer.
I used hurst even though I feel like now it did not help me much just a little on content. I went totally blank on the test. My school used Kaplan but I am not a big fan, but a lot of people say it's most like the nclex. I didn't use Kaplan. I now feel like I shouldn't have spent money on hurst review. Hurst is just content.
I would recommend that you use something with alternate format questions.
I also used LaCharity (PDA) this was the most helpful I would highly recommend this book.
I got 75Q I walked out of the exam feeling defeated. The only hope I had was that I got a lot of SATA hear say is if you get a lot that means you are doing well. Every couple of question I had were SATA. I had 8 drag and drop, one math question which I thought I wasn't going to get I didn't even study math. No EKG, No cardiac Q. I had med questions where they didn't give me both names.
I did the pearson trick and got the good pop up but I will know for sure Friday.
GOODLUCK TO ALL!!!!

Congrats!! Way to go - you knocked it out. :)
I take mine on 8/7. I did take HURST, and also have Kaplan and NCSBN. It sounds like you should really have core content down - key diseases/conditions in each system? Did you prep and complete a lot of questions prior? I do have the LaCharity book also - you recommend this was helpful as well which is great. Any other tips/direction you want to provide would be great.
Congrats again!!

Congrats RN!!!!!!!!!
No matter how long you study the nclex if different you might not even get questions over stuff you studied. While you are studying I would suggest that you focus on s/s and teaching. Hurst is good for content go over it more than a few times but I went blank I only went over hurst twice. I cant say enough lacharity, lacharity, lacharity. With this book you also get a little content as well and help you answer questions and pick the most critical patients. Like I said different format questions as for as skills you might have to put in order, easy right?so you dont want to get those wrong. Thats like giving away points. You could look up skills on the internet but on the nclex they are not as complexed as they would be on the internet maybe four to five steps on nclex.
Thank you!!! I cant believe it. Thats really how bad my test was im in shock. Another thing if you walk out the nclex feeling like you knew everything on the test you probably failed. Nclex is tricky the answer that looks and sounds right is probably not one word my make it wrong. Test taking strategies are key. I used absolute words meaning dont pick if it has a absolute word in there. I used part of the decision tree. Assessment and implementation and ABC.
