After an arduous journey of daily prepping and 4 attempts at NCLEX, I have finally passed it at 75 questions.
I wanted to extend a word of encouragement to those that have tried and failed NCLEX: Don't give up and don't ever give in! You will pass!
What did not work for me the first 3 attempts was my method of study and a choice of resources.
I used the following:
* Kaplan - full review, 2 times. Kaplan was good at Priority, Assessment, Delegations, Decision Tree and Maslow hierarchy. It was not good at questions and expensive.
* Lippincott - I think I got a 2014-2015 edition. It is a good book but is cumbersome to work with. It also has online portion that really needs an update.
* NCSBN Learning EXT - subscribed to 3 times, 5-week each; It was the money worst spent! Their question bank is nowhere near the format of real NCLEX and was least helpful.
* NCLEX MASTERY - mobile app and online access - the BEST RESOURCE at $29! It has about 1600 questions with comprehensive rationales; lots of SATA questions - I did about 1300, about 30-50 per day.
Initially I thought I'd have it on my Android phone only, but ended up studying online on my Mac. This is what worked for me the last time. Their questions were almost identical to what I have seen on NCLEX. This one is what I highly recommend. (I have no financial or otherwise vested interest to promote this)
* Medscape Online subscription to Nurses - Free resource with lots of info on conditions, treatments, pharmacology, research, etc. - a great daily read! You can switch from MD to RN to Pharmacist mode.
Lastly, I am going to scan my notes, combine them with my online notes at Evernote and give them away to anyone, who is interested or needs it.
Best of luck to all NLCEX test takers!
Congrats RUmedic for passing the NCLEX. I am hoping to pass this time. I am taking it again for the 4th time. I would like to ask if you would be so kind to share your notes. My email is: [email protected]. Thank you very much and greatly appreciate it.
Kindly,
Miguel
Miguel,
Don't lose hope and don't let past failures define your future and what kind of nurse you will be. In fact I don't see failed attempts as failures. I see them as obstacles that require extra motivation to push even harder than times before.
You will pass NCLEX and there will surely be other battles to fight and win beyond that. I will PM the notes.
Thanks for the encouragement. I greatly appreciate it. I know this is just an obstacle but sometimes I can't help to feel what I feel. I am greatly thankful that there are many people like you who encourage others to continue on and not giving up on their dreams. Thanks again for the encouragement and I appreciate on sharing your notes. God bless you RUmedic.
Congrads on your success. Arduous journey is a metaphor for goal setting and goal attaining. How much do i want this, how much effort am I willing to devote, and how much deprivation am I willing to endure (or cause ). Remove quitting as an option and perhaps its easier to settle in for the long haul of preparation. My first attempt is coming up but my study isolation has left me impoverished in quality methods and resources so your recommendations are welcome. Add me to your study notes request list @ [email protected]. Hope to me you in the hospital HR waiting room or other such place.
How many months passed between graduation and your 4th attempt? Love hearing these kind of stories because it gives others that haven't passed hope! That had to of been the best feeling in the world. I graduate in 24 days, if you're still sending the link love to see your notes, i'll PM you the email. again, congrats!
Congratulations on passing!!! And thank you for the inspiration!!! Can I also get a copy of your notes? I don't have pm messages yet. My email is [email protected]. Thank you!!

I am in the situation you were in. I took the NCLEX for the 3rd time and did not pass. I am losing hope and it is so depressing. I will try to take it again for the 4th time, hoping to pass it. I will buy the Kaplan you recommend. U bought the ncbsn 3 week course and did not help me at all.
I also would like to have your notes if you wouldn't mind. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you and Congrats on passing the NCLEX.
Kindly,
Miguel
