Passed the NCLEX in 75 questions! Here's how...

Hi all,

For those interested in how to tackle nclex prep, this was what worked for me...

I recently took the nclex a week ago and I'll say it's not as bad as some people make it sound! I spent a total of 3 weeks studying for the exam. The one thing that I did that I saw beneficial was to register for a date and ensure I stuck with it. Once I had a date, that gave me ample time and motivation to study and prepare.

Suggestion: AVOID STUDYING FOR THE EXAM UNTIL YOU REALLY HAVE A DATE SET.

In regards to resources I used to prep, I spent $50 on the 3 week ncsbn content review. It was a good resource to review content, which I spent 2 weeks total doing (I actually did not finish it entirely). Then, a week before the exam, I spent $50 on a 4-week UWORLD practice exams. I'll say the UWORLD resource was most beneficial, as the exam questions mirrored the actual nclex. The rationales were pretty detailed and informative. For anyone interested in UWORLD,just google it and the website pops up.

Overall, I spent 3 weeks studying, 2 weeks on content and a week on practice questions (took a total of 1000 questions). I typically spent 4 hours a day studying, but the last week, I spent 8 or more. With a lot of hard work and prayers, I was able to take the nclex in 75 questions and pass. If I can,so can you.

Hope this helps!

May I ask why?

Because it's truly a waste of time! If you continually study for an exam with the hopes of 'taking it at some point' without a date, chances are you will forget and not fully retain what you studied! But with a date set, that will provide you ample motivation as well as good study skills and time management, to get things done in a timely manner!

Just my 2cents, it worked well for me so just throwing it out there!

Thanks, good rational. I don't have my test date yet so I'm avoiding studying anyways. But I plan on using UWorld and NCSBN again when I decide to study again.

Sounds like a good plan and good luck! For UWORLD, take your time to read and understand those rationales. Very helpful!
