I sat for NCLEX and passed in 75 questions my very FIRST TIME taking it. I'm posting this because I read every post for the past 3 months of preparing. A lot of posts increased my anxiety. So hopefully this post will decrease your anxiety and help you prepare, because it is possible to pass. Here's a little about me and how I prepared.
Little backround:
I failed my ATI exit 3 times before I could graduate. I failed out of nursing school one time. I made Bs and Cs throughout my program. According to statistics I should not have passed my first time nor passing in 75questions.
How long did I study?
3 months
How long did I study each day?
7 hours. Day to night I studied with taking 20-30 min breaks.
What did I study with?
Hurst
PDA book by lacharity
Uworld
Mark Kilmek
How did I study?
I reviewed Hurst 3 times and also made flash cards and reviewed those flash cards first before I did anything else. I also did the live class review. My qbank scores for Hurst were in the 60s nowhere near the recommended score.
Next, I did the entire PDA book- my scores were in the 60s for each chapter
Next, I bought uworld twice, reviewed all 1900 questions rationales twice. First time I did all systems and then the second time I did it by system. I highly recommend by system first so that you can better absorb the information. My scores were a little above average. My first assessment score was borderline and my second assessment score was high chance of passing.
Lastly, I reviewed all of Mark Kilmek videos once.
Note: If you don't take any advice from this post, the only thing I would recommend is the PDA by lacharity book, it's an amazing book, very informative, and I feel that is the reason I passed.
Good luck. I was a terrible student and I passed with 75 questions my first time. It's possible don't give up.
