Passed NCLEX 2nd Attempt

Published

Hello everyone,

I swore I would go on here once I passed to share some of the things I did so here's some advice for passing boards:

1.Get rid of distractions (social medias, friends, etc.) only until you pass of course :)

2. minimize anxiety as much as possible

3. make sure you understand your core content before going onto strategies

4. make a plan and do your best to stick to it

5.most importantly...believe in yourself. I had a hard time with that one since I already failed once.

I wanted to keep it short and sweet. if you're preparing to take the test for the first or fifth time, good luck and YOU CAN DO IT!

CONGRATULATIONS. What study material did you use

Thank you! :):)

For content I used the Hurst Review, I went to the class and took about a month and a half of intense studying to make sure I knew it. You're given 2 weeks online access for the content you've covered in class and you can activate it anytime but it's only 2 weeks so choose your time wisely. You also have access to specially areas online and 6 practice tests each I believe are 125 questions. NCSBN focused really on their pharmacology lessons.

For questions I used NCSBN I got 8 week membership; great questions and rationales, you can take the tests multiple times. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!! Exam cram 4th edition, I bought it because there was suppose to be a CAT on the CD but I wasn't able to find it on there so I used the book; there are over 500 questions with great rationals and also theres content in there too. PDA by LaCharity, completed the entire book; don't focus so much on your score just understand where they're coming from.

For strategies I used Hurst Review, at the end of the book they give you a list of strategies I read them, they were very helpful to me.

I studied from august 13-november 10, almost every day. My exam was on november 12, it shut off at 80 something questions, took me 2 hours. I honestly felt like I knew how to answer the questions as opposed to the first time. Believe it or not, I was very calm going in and throughout the exam. Nothing mattered but my patient on the screen, I read and re-read each question to make sure I understood what they were asking me. I didn't stay too long on a question unless it was math only to double check my math and my rounding.
