I am in the middle of my APRN program and trying to decide in FNP or psych/mental health. Did you feel your programs prepared you for the test? How long have you been out of school?
I don't think you can go wrong with either specialty. If I were ever to go back for another specialty it would be psych/mental health. I think my program prepared me well for the exam, but I think studying different review books is also very helpful. I graduated in August 2011.

Congrats on passing...Im about to graduate and will take the AANP in January sometime. Im a little troubled by all these failures and everyone saying that half the the test seems to be material that nobody has seen. Can you describe some of this material to help us from a similar surprise? Im not asking for actual questions obviously but generalizations would be helpful! Again, Congrats and Thank you!
Congrat to all of you passing the board exam. I am in my last semester and will graduate in May 2012. Anyone can give me some suggestions, like which review books are good for exam? Just like Robbnp22 said, it would be good for us if someone can describe the actual questions from the board exam, because I feel nervous after reading all the post. All of you guys stated that the questions of the exam were different from what we studies. Any tips for us to pass the exam too? Thanks for any advice.

I passed the AANP FNP test on Halloween! That test was hard. I felt like I studied and reviewed a lot of material. I didn't feel like a lot of what I studied was on the test. I'm just happy that I passed. Now the waiting game to get my license from Pennsylvania.
