pasadena spring 2014 nursing applicant

I have applied already...anyone else?

Hi Jofapcastillo. I haven't turned in the packet yet. I will do next year...^^ Maybe Jan. 3 or 4? And according to the Pearson packet that we got from the orientation, all things but pharmacology books are included. So I guess we can buy pharmacology books(three) from amazon. But I am not sure about dosage calculations because it says like (W/bind-in access). After I check whether the book is same as the one in amazon, I mean, if the bind-in access means the CD-ROM inside, I would buy it from amazon as well. I need to check it first at the bookstore. I already ordered other 2 pharmacology books like pharmacology and pharmacology study guide. And Nursing 137 (REV.SPR'14) is like a syllabus, so we need to buy it at the bookstore only. Other than that, I think we need to buy the package which includes other textbooks and mynursinglab 24month access codes. And we also need to buy RealEHRprep with Cerner at the bookstore...right? oh mine...I wonder when the bookstore has the package...I should call now...bye.[/quote']

Ok so far you only ordered the pharmacology book from Amazon. Correct?

Oh pls inform me! I would like to hear from you again regarding books.

Yeah actually Im done with the packet checklist. I just dont have time to go there due to work. And I think theyre closing early on Monday, 23rd. They will be close for the holidays and resume like the 2nd or 3rd I think. Gosh! Im excited and nervous as the semester is drawing near!!!!

Please update me! Thank you so much!

Hi all,

I just called the bookstore and they said the books were supposed to come in today, but have not. If they come Monday, they will call everyone who pre-ordered and ask them to pick the books up before 1pm because they close then. Otherwise, they resume on the 2nd of January so hopefully the books will be there then!

Thanks for the info, heyrenee. Then, should we just preorder the books anyway? or can we just go to the bookstore and purchase them?

Omg! I totally forgot about ATI, wth! Im doomed with the fee late ugh! Were not even nurses yet, why is it soo expensive? Sorry just venting! :(

Hi melowetta,

If you pre-order, you would have to go to the school to pay. I didn't, because I live almost an hour away. But they said they'd have enough for each student so they shouldn't run out!

I forgot too... Thanks for reminding me haha. It is but it'll all be worth it. Just think, it's much cheaper than private school :)

You'll use most if not all of the books throughout the program; next semester will be much cheaper!

Oh really? Thanks for the info. Any advises for the first semester?? ?

Well my biggest advice is to be flexible with your schedule... Read the book, take notes, and practice critical thinking... Especially when it comes to prioritization. Maslow's Heirarchy of needs is important to understand and apply to priority... Some instructors will say "call the physician" is never the answer but they're liars.

Don't forget your ABCs (airway, breathing, circulation... In that order)

Thanks for the info. Have you guys bought the textbooks and EHR (cerner) from the bookstore?
