Pasadena PCC LVN to RN 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Wondering if anyone applied to the LVN to RN bridge program at PCC to start Summer 2017?

Hoping to to hear something soon I believe it said 10 weeks to hear a decision the dead line was Feb 1st, and I submitted mine mid January.

Crossing my fingers!!!

Did you check your email I got the code in a email sent on April 28th.

Yes I did, thanks!

Had to call ATI though because the class code was wrong. It should just be LVN Transfer. Have you started clearing any of the requirements?

The school will email you the class code. It jumped up to $572/per semester now. Yes, on top of everything else you have to buy!!

When you purchased the ATI package, did they mail the books as well or was it just ebooks? Really hoping they send the physical books as well.

Is there anything that you would recommend studying or brushing up on before we start next month?

the books are mailed to the address you provided on ATI.

brush up on your math!

The director told us we'd have to purchase our books since they were not included ($295)... However someone managed to convince them to send us the books for free. But it was several months into the semester before we got them. I do prefer the ebook since you can easily use the ctrl+f function to search quickly.

Please do not attend PCC unless it is your only/lasy resort. It was the only place I applied to. Very little assistance for LVN career ladders, and we're often left confused and unsure of certain procedures as they expect us to be up to date like the generic students. You are thrown into third semester with generic students! You are not a separate cohort!

Hello, what were your grades in the prerequisites?

Are you wrapping up you'r last semester?

I'm really nervous I will be starting the transition course soon on the 26th, and so scarred been trying to brush up on my systems, and lab values. Do they assign you your own patients, with expectation you know what to do 100%?

I'm hoping I do ok I work for a hospital I do lots of procedures such as wound vacs, plurex drains, bilary drains, catheters, blood withdraw, assessments, jp drains, etc.

Still so damn scarred I hope I can manage to learn & pass the program I'm giving up my job for this so I need to pass.

Hope it all works out for you too...and you get to take your nclex.

Anatomy B

Physiology A

Micro B+

I have a B.A so also received full points for TEAS.

the transition course isn't difficult.. the material is also not correlated with the curriculum of 3rd semester. if I were you.. once you receive access for your ATI, go through the online orientation and familiarize yourself with it. you'll be using it a lot, and no one will really explain it to you. for the most part, there is an expectation for career ladders to be on the same page once you are integrated with the generic students in 3rd. also, depending on when you graduated from LVN school, brush up on your ADPIE and critical thinking skills, because it's been a challenge for some of us career ladders. also, dosage calculation! brush up and good luck!

Just go back a few posts and you'll find a really long post I wrote that should relieve some anxiety. You don't get your own patients; you follow the nurse. In 3rd you'll start with 1, but you still need the RN or teacher around for hanging IVs and injections (but you can follow the nurse for all patients if you want).

In 4th you'll do cardiac/respiratory/ICU if lucky and you'll follow the nurse for all the patients. They'll let you do anything you're able to and watch you, but you're never independent. PLEASE DO NOT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT AN RN OR TEACHER PRESENT! This has gotten many many people kicked out of the program. Don't think that because you have an LVN license you can work independently! These are not your patients. There is one nurse at a certain hospital that will throw students under the bus even though it was her fault!

The transition class is easy. You don't need to study for it. But review all your medications and labs for 3rd semester.
