Pasadena City College Fall 2017

U.S.A. California

Published

I was wondering if anyone applied there. I also applied to:

CSUEB

Los Angeles Pierce

Los Angeles Valley (once their apps open on April 11th maybe)

LA county Allied health

COC (I really doubt I get in because I did 2 attempts on the teas)

Glendale Community college

STATS:

OVERALL SCIENCE GPA (3.33)

OVERALL GPA (3.56)

TEAS VI: 72.7%

I know it's early, but I want an early start. I just need to get into a nursing program before my pre-req expire :/ My best bet so far for me is Allied health, GCC, Pasadena, and maybe Pierce

Anyone concerned about PCC's NCLEX pass rate for these past couple years? Does anyone know why the sudden decline from ~90% to around ~80% in the past couple years? Rio Hondo has an almost consistent score of 90% for the past years.

Maybe consider trying to take the TEAS again?

Gah, 3rd semester trying to get into any program? That really scares me myself because I didn't make myself a back up plan if I don't get into any program. :/

Most Ca CC only take your first teas attempt! Since I applied to most schools that are based on lottery it's based on luck. I know a couple of people with a lower GPA and teas score and still got in!! So it sucks! I applied to La County which I know is mainly based on points and I have 86 points because I also have prior medical experience. Good luck to all of us trying to get in!!!!

Most schools are taking Teas 6 scores. So if you've taken teas 5 twice. Then you can take teas 6 and it would throw out your prior teas score.

Got my hopes up today because I received a call from a pasadena area phone number. I called back and it was just Time Warner Cable trying to advertise to me lol. Hopefully we'll find out our admission status by this Friday.

Finally got through to someone in the office today who said the letters will be sent via email by the end of May early June. I was hoping for it to be this week!

Thank you!

Thanks for the update. It seems like those who are accepted are notified first followed by the alternates a week or two later. Hopefully whoever gets accepted lets us know.

Hey guys my teacher said they are taking more students for Fall 2017 generic program and they have added an extra teacher. I don't know if that means they are taking 50 or 60 students. They will also add on ~20 LVNs beginning 3rd semester. You should hear by June 1 or July 1 depending on the program you applied for.

Visit the PCC class schedule if you want a peek of how the classes are scheduled. You are in clinical groups of 10.

Hope that helps.

Just FYI PCC is ATI-intensive and you only get 3 hours of theory a week so you really need to focus on studying on your own time. Per our director passage was 100% for the last class (except 1 person from 2014 took it for the first time and failed bringing the % down). She also said it's 100% pass for those who took nclex the 2nd time. Also, many students have classes in progress and I don't think will hurt your chances; I had a class in progress when I applied, too.

PCC school year starts and ends later than most schools, which is probably why you haven't heard back from them even after all the other schools have notified you. Don't give up hope!

THANK YOU! This gives me hope for my generic app

I'm waiting for a status update from PCC as well. Patiently waiting (yea right); turning in my app was a cool experience. They were nice and looked over it to make sure everything was there. From now on I believe they switched to the TEASE 6.....Fall 2017 was the last semester for the TEASE 5. I should sign up to take it; wouldn't be a bad idea if my dreams just happen to fall to pieces. Lol jk. Good luck everyone; blessings.
