Pasadena City College Fall 2016

Published

I applied for the fall term at PCC and haven't received any notification. Didn't see a forum created for this term and thought I'd start none to solicit feedback. Has anyone been accepted or notified of alternate status yet? Thanks!

Hi guys,

I have a questions about applying rn program at pasadena city college. Do u guys need to do volunteer to earn points for applying rn? If so, where can I go for volunteer? Could u guys please give me some infos to apply RN program. I m about to finish my pre requisite course for rn. Does pcc accept the RN by points system or lottery system?

Thank u in advance:)

Hi I applied for PCC Fall 2016 , I was on the wailist but I wasn't accpeted.

Even though I wasn't accpeted, I can still give you some insights about applying the program.

First, you do need to volunteer for at least 200 hours in either a hospital or clinical setting that will give you chances to interact with patients and your volunteer duties must be specificlly stated on the volunteer certificate.

Second, PCC choose students base on a point system, so you really want to get As or Bs in your pre-reqs. My pre-req GPA was around 3.7 to 3.8 ish. My TEAS score was 80% and that wasn't good enough to compete with the top sutdents so you really want to get at least 90%.

Also, you want to keep in mind that PCC is VERY VERY hard to get into, so you might want to apply several RN programs. Btw, I am now attending LA County School of Nursing and I'm loving it so far.

Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions;)

Thank u so much for ur info. How can I pm you? How did u go and apply for the volunteer program? Because I tried to apply few hospitals online. But they didn't reply to me. I will go and check the LA county school in nursing.

Thank u again

You can click my name and just shoot me any questions you have:)

I actually didn't volunteer in a hospital. My friend use to work as a front desk receptionist in a surgery center and she was able to get me in there to volunteer. You don't necessarily have to volunteer in a hospital (best if you can get in but their volunteer positions do fill up fast and they usually require people to commit a minimal of 100 to 200 hours i think), as long as you are interacting with people you will be fine. So maybe you can try to look into your local nursing homes, or clinics if you can't get into hospitals.
