2016 parkland critical care trauma nurse internship

U.S.A. Texas

Unlike past years this years internship doesn't have a thread I noticed so I wanted to make one for people who were getting interviews and such for the internship to communicate. Hopefully this helps facilitate any questions people may have too.

Thats awesome and hope to be accepted myself. Is there any advice or tips you can give on being prepared for the interview such as types of questions they ask or what they are looking for in a person that they want to accept....I interview next WED on the 9th?

The interview is very low key and not intimidating at all. They (the program manager/assistant manager) are extremely kind and are some of the smartest nurses I will ever meet. Just be yourself and know the answers you put on your essay and be prepared to elaborate. They have been running this program for over 20 years so they know EXACTLY what they are looking for, and they do NOT just pick the people with the highest GPAs. They are looking to see that you are a match for Parkland and that you are prepared to work really hard. Being enthusiastic, positive, and eager to learn are big pluses. The program is very intense, tests are LONG, and you will be studying outside of class very frequently. They want to know that you are fully aware about this and are prepared to bring your best.

They will answer any questions you have about the program, and will fully disclose the details about what you should expect. EVERYONE who interviews with them will tell you they were very nice and basically just have a relaxed conversation with you during the interview. You will not get an experience like this one at any other hospital and am so thankful to have had this experience and proud to say I made it through. Good luck and hope that helps!

Any news anyone?

We probably aren't going to hear anything until the first week of April. They said at the interview that was going to be the soonest since they still have interviews and have to meet with talent selection the last week of March but they would try to get them out as soon in April as they can.

I do not know for sure yet. I am going to talk with a CRNA I know and see what he thinks will give me the best experience for CRNA school. I am pretty sure it will not be Parkland only because of the 3 year contract that costs you 20,000$ if you break it. If it weren't for that it would for sure be Parkland.

Wow @heyjack you have a tough decision to make! Do you have a deadline for the position?
