What sort of programs or strategies to you use for parent ed & engagement? We're a Title I campus & my principal is big on that sort of thing but it generally seems like we have low turn out for programs so I'm not sure what they'd respond to well. He always asks me during my summative at the end of the year what new ideas I have so I've started trying to think of some for this year...

Can you tag along with a PTA/PTO program...you already have a captive audience there.

I was asked to do a Title 1 Night Presentation too and it was on How To Talk To Your Kids About Sex. I had to present twice that night for both schools and only 1 parent showed up to my presentation during one slot time at only one school. Well at least he really enjoyed the presentation.

We have tied ours with PTA meetings or have done "Coffee with the Counselor or Principal" in the mornings. Have coffee and donuts out then do your presentation. So thankful my principal doesn't make me do those :)

Maybe you could provide parents ways to improve their child's mental/emotional health. There is research to support basic interventions such as eating meals together as a family, reading together, singing, playing games, and story-telling as ways to improve children's mental and emotional health. These children also do better academically. Share free resources in your community, such as library story times and free days at museums.
Good luck!
