Paramedic To RN Bridge Program

I am a full time Firefighter/Paramedic in southwest Ohio, and I want to also become an RN for advancement as either a flight nurse of EMS coordinator. Other than excelsior, are there any Paramedic to RN bridge programs that anyone is aware of?

not that i am aware of... the paramedics that were in my RN program started at the begining of the course... now that i think of it dosen't excelsior have a program like that? maybe you could email them and ask excelsior if they have a program.. i wish you luck in your schooling.. keep us posted

With enough motivation and free time, you can burn through the Excelsior program in short order. I know a medic who blew through the this program in several weeks. He took an exam a week. I assume this would be difficult; however, it is most likely the quickest way of obtaining your RN credentials.

The community colleges in my area offer medics the option to test out of 1st semester of nursing, granted all your pre-requisites (maths, eng., sciences, ect..) are complete. But you still have to take nursing 2,3 & 4...its worth a shot. Check local colleges.

Do you hold a Degree (Bachelor's, etc?) I know the registry was looking to "upgrade" the NREMTP to that level, but I haven't been on a bus in about five years. There are 2nd degree programs that would give you credit for the NREMTP, but you would still have to do clinicals at most of them.

No, unfortunately I don't have a degree. And the fact that I work 24 on, 48 off with the fire department, it becomes very difficult for me to take classes. I will look into excelsior though. If anyone hears of a bridge program anywhere in southwest Ohio, let me know.

Lorain county community college now offers a bridge program. I would go with excelsior. Kent state now offeres the bridge and I beleive stark does as well.
