Paramedic to RN programs. HELP !!!

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I have been a paramedic here in Alabama for years and I am also a career firefighter. I am interested in continuing my education and obtaining my RN license. I am looking for any schools around north Alabama that offer a fast track type program to go from paramedic to RN. I understand Southern Union in Wadley , Al. offer such a program . There I believe one is supposed to get their RN in two semesters. It is a very long drive to attend that far away. I live near Ft. Payne and am looking for something closer with possibly some classes being offered via internet. Anyone have any ideas? Surely someone else has already been this route. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks !!!!

Don't know about Alabama, but I have never heard of a fast track program that didn't require at least 4 semesters, in addition to a previous BS, BA, or MA, AND in addition to having taken all the prerequisites.

You might try the student nursing forum, in case someone there has more current information.

(added later) Oops. I was thinking "BSN" and the thread was about "RN" instead. My mistake.

I found this on a google search:

Go to http://www.google.com and put in paramedic to RN

There are lots of different sites to look at there.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I was a paramedic and got my adn from regents which is now excelsior. You test out of subjects and take a final practical at a hospital site. I did it in 9 months. I now have worked my way to being a nurse practitioner. Good Luck.
