Does anyone have any information or guidance on continuing to maintain paper records? I work in a large district that is moving further towards a truly paperless system. The question has been raised as to what paper documents must or should be kept in a student's health folder, if the information is stored electronically either in an electronic documentation system (such as SNAP) or even a scanned pdf file? I am finding information on school health records retention but is does not really address paper vs electronic records.

Contact your state's school board. These laws vary from state to state. If you Google "(your state) school board of education school nurse" you may find the contacts for the person who deals with school health.
I did contact the Ohio Department of Education and they were not really helpful. I was told that maintaining and retaining student health records is governed by the district, and there are no state laws, policies, guidelines to go by...........
