Hey...congrats! I am really excited to start but already feel overwhelmed since I was accepted for the Spring last minute. Were you at the orientation a few mths ago?

Hello Belle,

I also was notified last minute and felt soo overwhelmed with getting everything done. I wished I could of went to the orientation as well, have you heard anything back on how the orientation was? I just bought two books today, the bookstore wasnt fully shelved yet, so I have to go back again or order online. There were no lab coats for the RN program. I did get the syllabus for Nursing 117. That in itself was 200 pages.. .. If I dont hear back from you, I 'll see you in 2 weeks. Congrats on getting into the program :0)

Yes I was at the orientation. Did you guys buy all of your books yet? There were a couple I couldnt find on Amazon like the nutrition one so I'm guessing we can get them in the Palomar bookstore? Do you guys live near the school?

Hi Christine, congrats to you too!! I bought all of my books on Amazon. You can sign up w/Amazon prime and get the free 2day shipping. I'm assuming the pamphlets are at the bookstore? I just bought my uniform & labcoat at that place in Escondido that was in our packet...they'll do the patches & seam binding for u (but it costs $15 ea). Anyways sooo anxious to start. Have you bought everything else?Bejuled...anything we missed at orientation? I was just briefed in the nursing office. I am in Carlsbad...but not far fr Palomar. What about u?

I live in orange county... but am hoping to move down closer to school. ummm as far as orientation just make sure you mail that paper to order the badges that will be sent to the school for the first day... a lot of the students that spoke recommended going through the math book before we start to be ahead because there isn't a lot of time to learn it once we start dosage calculations.. and also to review fluid & electrolytes, I'm trying to think of more and I will post it if I think of anything else!

Where are your guy's clinical sites??

They said they were going to email us when the syllabus was available at school but I didn't get a email from them and since you already got it, maybe they didn't email us yet?

I just need to get one more book as well as the clinical syllabus. The nurtrition packet is in the bookstore. I will have to go check Amazon for the Med Surg Book. I live in Oceanside. Nervous about the drive, since I heard there is a lot of traffic in the morning, plus the first couple of weeks I heard the parking is a real issue, so come early. See you soon,

Thanks for the tip on Amazon Prime and the free shipping. Yes, the pamphlets are in the bookstore, did you get your clinical syllabus or the syllabus for NURS 103? When i went today they didnt have them. There are alot of books, I guess I will need a rolling backpack.. I am anxious too, and nervous.

I went to get the Nutrition and back tips and the lifting and moving patients today and they said they didn't have them yet.... were they in a different section than the books? They had no idea what they were!

Hello BeJuled,

Did they mention recommendations on backpacks. There are soo many books. I heard about the tip on dosage calculations, I just got my book, so I will try to review as much as I can before class.

The syllabus is at the bookstore for 117, but the clinical was not there today, nor was the syllabus for NURS 103.

My clinical site was emailed to me before Xmas, it is Casa De Campana. You might want to check with the office . Does anyone have Case de Campana as a clinical site?

Yess they did reccommend a rolling backpack!! And to have a box in your trunk to put all of your books in so you aren't missing any when you need one. I'm trying to decide if I am going to break down and get a rolling backpack because I used to be against them but it looks like I might need one!

I got the syllabus for N117 and the student handbook those were the only ones there.. Does anyone know what books we need to bring the first day?? I was hoping it would be in the announcement on BB but it wasn't...
