Hi carebearRN,

I lived in West Palm Beach 2 years ago. It's a really nice area, but extremely congested (lots of traffic and road construction on I-95). I found people in the area to be really nice and friendly. I don't have any traveller nurse tips, as I am still in school.

Do you know where in Palm Beach county you will be living?

Check out some local websites for information....

Thank You for the websites- i will definetely check them out. I am not sure what area I will be living in- the agency is looking for a place for me. thanks again!

Wife:nurse: and I will be in WPB in January. Our first trip down there as well. She will be working at Good Samaritan. Where will you be working??

Hi, I will be at palm beach gardens medical center

Are you working at Palm Beach Gardens? I just interviewed there for a telemetry position in a post cath area. Can you give me any info? Do you like it? Thanks!

I'm in Ft. Lauderdale working at Holy Cross. Used to live in Palm Beach County. Worked at JFK last winter. Have worked at a few other hospitals in the area but things change very fast. Be sure to visit City Place. Free music and people watching. Palm Beach Zoo is a good way to spend a morning or afternoon, it's not large enough to take a full day. Lion Country Safari is another. Be sure to take your discount Pepsi can or whatever they are currently taking. There are a few Water Parks that will be opening on weekends soon that aren't too bad. Rapids is fairly close to Palm Beach Gardens. Depends on what you want to spend your time and money on. Lot's to do. Take advantage of any of the cooler days because they won't be around much longer. Thunder storms in the middle of the afternoon will become a daily occurance( unless the drought continues). Do heed with warnings and stay inside, lightning strikes are much more common here than any other place. Hope that helps,

PBGMC is a really nice facility with good staffing ratios. alot of nurses that i used to work with actually left our hospital to go and work there. are you staying in PBG? is it a really beautiful area, its a little pricy, but its beautiful. nice beaches not too far away, great night life not too far away, and the mall is awesome (its off PGA blvd on I-95..you must go). now if you are staying in WPB, just be prepared for a long commute, because the traffic is insane at the 7a or 7p interval. i think you will enjoy it though. i am actually planning on taking a contract down there when i graduate nrsg school, bf and i want to do the whole east florida coast (my parents are live in PBG and his are in Vero). good luck, and enjoy the sunshine!
