Greetings
reaching out to all PACU / Recovery room nurses regarding visitors in the room.
I am sure many of us find it difficult having visitors within the PACU bit can any of you share your departments ideas as to how to accommodate the growing demand to allow visitors
At present we don't have a defined policy and it is at Nutses discretion but some don't have common sense or consideration of others and go to extreme allowing multiple family members in for long duration
I am looking at what the best demonstrated practice is
Thanks

Family members are just too nosey. They stick their head out even if you've pulled the curtain. They start asking about stuff going on in the room that indicates they are hearing way too much about the other patients.
When I have a second patient I can't pull the curtain and I don't like it when my first patient is so awake they are asking about the second one let alone a fully awake and alert family member
Family are just as likely to cause more anxiety in the patient than relieve it. They start demanding stuff and are not able to comprehend that their loved one is not the center of my universe.
The big room/curtain set up of most PACUs are just not family friendly.
