Hi everyone!
I have been following past threads on PACE CDP 2010- 2013. I will be applying to the program for Spring 2014. I wanted to start this thread for everyone who will be applying for this upcoming cycle!
I would love for us to share our experiences as we commence our application process/ support group ( >___
For those who are already in the program, I would truly appreciate if you guys can share your experiences and credentials.
A little background on me:
I have a Psychology B.S. with an undergrad GPA of 3.8. I have been working as a paralegal at a law firm for the last two years and after doing a good amount of soul searching and re evaluating what I want to do in life and where I'm now, I know for a fact I want to become a nurse and eventually a NP. I have so much appreciation for the unsung heroes in the hospitals, clinics, and other practices. Thus, I will do whatever I can and work as hard as I can to become one.
I will be completing my remaing pre- reqs by this summer: A&P1 and 2, and Microbiology.
Good luck to everyone! Please share!
:)
PACE is my number one choice as of now.
Hi Nia174,
Congrats on your interview. I interviewed on October 21 and got waitlisted that same day. I haven't heard anything back since. By the way, how do you know / where did you hear that if you get waitlisted for spring, they will bump you to acceptance in fall 2014?
Hi I believe the last set of interviews were given on the 4th of November. I was actually extremely excited to be chosen to interview but, I was put on a waiting list which means if I don't get bumped up to this class in spring 2014 I will be accepted into the fall 2014 class in NYC.[/quote']
I also had my interview on Nov 4th and was put on the wait list at rank 10, kind of frustrating because it seems like they did rolling admissions but didn't state that anywhere... I would have applied earlier if I had known. I called admissions and they said they already have 64 deposits so it's sounds like the nov 4th interviews were just for spots on the wait list. I too was wondering how you know that those on the wait list will get accepted to the fall NYC start. That would be awesome because I was just planning on reapplying super early in 2014 if I don't get into my 2 top schools.
Thanks everyone for sharing this info. I have been calling every week and was not told any of this. I basically put everything on hold waiting for this decision. I just want an answer so I can move forward with other schools. I really appreciate people posting what they have heard since Pace has been keeping us in the dark! Good luck to those on the waitlist, I hope you get into the semester that you want.
Thank you !
I read about it from previous post and called to confirm. I told them pace was my first choice but I wanted to know if I am automatically accepted to the fall2014 class in NYC. After being put on hold for a few minutes (I'm guessing to confirm) I was told that yes you will be accepted into the fall 2014 if you wish to remain on the wait list and that your application is not thrown back into the pool of applicants. I was also told that whoever is on the wait list will receive an email towards the holidays stating the status or rank of them on the wait list .

My wait list rank is number 13. Read above and congrats at least we are lucky enough to have been put on the wait list. I was really skeptical about even getting interviewed because my undergrad gpa was really low. But I retook some of my prerequisites and received A 's in most and I also do volunteer. So to any other people who are planning on applying with low GPA's DON'T GIVE UP!! :-)

Hi Nia174,
When I interviewed on OCT 21st, they told us that we were the last group to be interviewed. Lol that obviously didn't happen. I'm in rank #2.. I got accepted else where too.. But I honestly prefer to stay in NY... If what you say is true about the waitlisted people being offered a seat in the fall 2014 cohort then that would actually be ideal.. If all the seats have been taken for spring 2014 (that's what I read from this thread) then we can only hope for something in the fall.. I just really want to go back to school... Almost 3 years out of college and I don't want to wait a second longer lol.. Thanks for the info!!
Good luck to the rest of you! Let's not give up on hope!

WARNING that i am being as honest as possible in addressing your concerns, as i am a student in the CDP program at pace. don't read this if you arent prepared for the massive reality check i am going to provide!!!
i will start by saying that i strongly suggest another program. pace is a private school and therefore you pay a lot of money to go there. all of us, students, sit and ponder WHERE THE HELL the money is going. here is the "evidence" ...... 1) the institution is pretty gross. the bathrooms are disgusting and the library is right out of 1970. you will not find any updated computer on this campus. the library also closes at 8. and get this, on the weekends, it OPENS AT NOON, AND CLOSES AT 8. like are you kidding? that's a joke. this program requires you to be up a lot earlier than noon on a saturday to start studying. 2) while there are, of course, exceptions, some of the instructors in this program do not teach. they read powerpoints which they have downloaded from the book. so basically, you're paying to have the book re-iterated. you get points off for not going to class, even though the material from class is NOT anything new and you could literally read the powerpoints at home. and actually, when i think about it now, all but 1 of my professors does that. 3) the resources made available by the school are actually preposterous. we are required to find scholarly sources for almost every single thing we write in this program; however when you use the databases to find articles, it is RARE that we ever have access to the ones that we need. "sorry, pace currently has no holdings for this article." then *** are we paying you for, pace?
secondly, it doesnt matter how smart you are, how good your grades were, or what you studied before this program. in the past 3 months, over 50% of my class is GONE. one class, in particular, has absurd exams that will make you feel really really really sad about your intelligence. and youre NOT DUMB, that's the thing. but the professors make you feel that way. when you ask questions about test questions they say "well of course you should just KNOW that blah blah blah... does blah blah blah," as if we are already nurses. but we arent. and we dont know half the terminology that is used. and how can we think like nurses for these tests if we aren't already nurses?
third: IMPORTANT. ALARM ALARM ALARM. 77 is the passing grade for a SINGLE CLASS. but you must maintain a 3.0 gpa each semester. and if you get a 77 in all your classes, its a 2.7 gpa. the only way to get a 3.0 is by averaging an 83 between all of your final class grades. so, for example, you might pass a class with a 77, but you better have an 89 in another class to balance that out.
lastly, the faculty is extremely unsupportive and they don't realize it which makes our blood boil even more. they say they are available and that they care, but in reality, they expect us to be on our A-Game all the time, and they are on their Z-Games. emails are often unanswered, you get barked at when asking questions (by one professor in particular who is extremely pretentious,) and you get no additional resources other than the textbook, the readings, and the slides. they do not offer practice test questions. they do not let you see exams from the past. no practice tests. no youtube videos. extremely vague test-maps. you're expected to find (and buy) your own resources to study for the test. but if we all already pay so much money to go to the school, why can't they just provide some of those things for us? the faculty, (again, other individuals in particular) are often LATE TO CLASS. and then the most ****** up part is that they KEEP YOU LATE. these instructors think they're queens which is hilarious. until it's not. it's not funny at all when you are failing because they are so heavily condescending and won't help you or show up to class on time.
the only positive thing i have taken out of this experience is that it sucks so much that we all commiserate together. you become EXTREEEEMELY close with the other student nurses in your cohort. also, clinicals are amazing. that is where you learn all the things you really want to know. and the clinical instructors are so supportive. also, for some reason, hospitals in NYC love pace students. woo! at least one point for pace.
please. don't be unhappy like we are. go somewhere else. go somewhere that doesn't throw away your money and hurt your self esteem.
