Pace ABSN program starting 2013

Published

I know it's early, but is anyone else looking at Pace's ABSN program to start in 2013? I'm 90% finished with my prerequisites and just getting the pieces together to start the application process!

Hi,

A lot of us actually also have great things to say about our clinical experiences. I would be glad to speak with anyone about mine.

Hi grodyjodi,

I have been following this thread for several months and it looks like there is a mix of reviews.

I will be applying to the spring 2014 cohort and I still would like to attend PACE.

Just a little bg about me: I'm currently a paralegal and I graduated with a BS in psychology 2 years ago with a 3.8 GPA. I'm currently wrapping up my prerequisite and so far I'm looking at a 3.8 GPA In prerequisite GPA as well.. I used to work in a hospital and clinical setting but not any recent experience.

I really would appreciate your critique and if you can share your stats and how tour incoming class was in their stats and background, it would really really help me out!

Based on your experiences and people around you, how well do you think PACE prepares you for a full time job?

Secondly you mentioned that you were working while studying at the same time, that is incredible based on how difficult the course work is. How did you balance everything ?

I hope I didn't bombard you!!

Thanks for sharing your experiences so far, I really hope PACE would give someone who didn't come from a true health background a chance..

Hi Jodi, It is nice to finally hear that someone had a positive experience with the program. I am starting the program in September and had become very apprehensive after reading all of the previous posts.

No school is perfect, I definitely had issues with the faculty and staff while pursuing my other undergraduate degree, but that is to be expected with colleges.

I am doing the 1 year program and I expect to dedicate my entire life this year to the nursing program. Do you have any advice that you could share and what you wish you would have known before entering the program?

Any extra inside info I could get before classes start would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much!

I got a call last week to interview, which I declined since I'm in my second semester at another school with no plans to leave. So if that's the case, they must still be accepting people or are having a hard time filling the class. It's pretty late in the game - I heard back from every other school I applied to by May, I was suprised to get a call since I figured they'd lost my application at this point.

Hi Jomajoma,

I was reading your post and I want to congratulate you on your achievement. I will be attending Pace for the CDP program this fall and I am very nervous. I wanted to know if you have any pointers to share? I'm mostly concerned about the HESi exams that they mention in orientation. Are there any study guides that you would recommend?

Please remember that 1 year Accelerated Nursing programs for second degree Baccalaureate/Masters students, college educators expect that they are teaching to ADULT learners + are expected to be responsibile for one's own learning. These are fast paced with crammed learning many covering 3-5 chapters per each class per week. Attrition rate from these programs ranges from 15-50%

TEACHING STRATEGIES FOR ADULT LEARNERS

Teaching strategies that promote critical thinking engage students in an active learning process. An active learning process requires students to be directly involved in the learning process, thus they are more likely to commit to memory information associated with the lesson.

Hi everyone! I applied to the CDP last summer for the Spring 2013 program but didn't have my chemistry completed in time. I'm finally ready and have my interview on Monday for the program that begins in January 2014. I've been waiting for this for almost a year and a half and am eager to finally have a decision. This is my first and only choice because of location and personal reasons I can't go to a school in the city.

I have a few questions if you would be so kind as to help me answer:

1. What does the interview entail? I'd like to be somewhat prepared for it. This will be a complete career change for me if I'm accepted.

2. I'm a mother of two, and from reading past posts, I understand it may take a while to get a decision. In that case, I'd like to go ahead and prepare myself and my family as if I did get in (childcare, rides to/from school for them, etc.). Can someone please let me know what the hours of the program are? I have applied for the one year program, but may switch to the two year depending on the hour, etc. but for now I just need to focus on getting in. When I've called the school for the hours they said I can't work...which I understand, but figuring out my children's needs are what I need them for.

Thanks for your help, I have read above about the rigor of the program and the complaints of a lot of the students. I'm totally on

board for the program though, so just looking for some advice on the above. It's very appreciated!!

Hello Where did you find the PACE application?

I just got an email saying I was accepted. You should all check your email, and good luck!!!

Hey I hope the program is going well for you. I just wanted to find out what kind of questions did they ask on the interview. I wanted to prepare before i go in. Do you have any advice? Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! I received an email today to come in for an interview (I applied for 1 year program). Can you please share your past interview experience and questions that they asked? And also someone mentioned before about HESI exam. Is it required ? Because i didnt see it on their website.

Hey guys! Congrats to all of you guys who've gotten in so far, and good luck to those of you who are still waiting!

I'm currently in the CDP program (graduating--I hope--in August 2013) and want to make myself available as a resource to anyone who's interested. There's a TON of stuff I wish I knew before I started, so if you have any questions ask away! The FB group is a great idea; way to get a head start :)

Hope this helps!!

Hey I am new to this website and i cannot PM. Can you please give any advise for the interview and share the TON of stuff you mentioned? =) thanks!

Hey,

I am new to this site and i see that you have finished the program and didn't like it.Why?

I might go and if i do can You please send me anything you have that might help.I really appreciate any help i can get.

I have an interview on Monday and after reading all of the comments im hesitant to going into the program.

Ha I can see I have a few classmates on here :) We ought to combine together and create one Pace-specific post to convince people NOT to apply.. the only way to get Pace to clean up their act.

Those of you who are already in the program and are dead set on it, I'll do what I can to help you. I'm putting together all the syllabi and book lists and schedules that we've received over the past three semesters and will send that out; will also send some study materials that were useful to us. I can't PM out, but feel free to PM me your email address and I'll mail everything to you. Good luck and TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER! See you in August :)
