Well, I will try to make this short
I work at a LTC Facility.....been there about 13 months (flexible schedule for school), and I have a problem with the DON not backing her nurses, and not following thru with other stuff;-
1-I have issues with certain STNA'S who sleep at night.....I can only tell grown women so many times not to sleep, and then I write them up,and turn it into the DON......certain aides have been written up more than 4 times....with NO consequences.....still working, even allowed to p/up extra shifts so then can sleep some more and get paid overtime for doing this.
2-I can have off my 4 days come back to work and find my pt's tx drsg's are the ones that I placed on them on my last day at work.....the facility does have a f/t tx nurse.....I have mentioned this to the DON, again nothing done.....continue to find 4 day old drsgs......UUURRRGGGHHHH! :rotfl:
Any suggestions?
Thanks for letting me vent

Contact state ombudsman, or state dept of health and report this (dressings). This is a major violation and since you are aware, you are obligated to report it. Think of the patients. Don't delay.
Also report the sleeping and how much it has been reported also.
Some states allow for some sleeping, but there is a limit. Hopefully
it will be stopped. The patients cannot be safe if staff is asleep.
