Overwhelmed

I started my first job as a LPN and I am beyond overwhelmed with the workload. My feet are killing me. I honestly questioned myself the first few weeks if I made the right decision. I know I did and this is part of my duties. I felt nursing school never prepared me for this at all

Sounds like you got hired into LTC. No matter where you are - hang in there and you'll get better at it.

Yes it's LTC on what they consider the hardest hall in the facility. Which they never usually hire new nurses for. I'm slow at my morning med pass it is ridiculous. :(

Hang in there, remember LVN school was just 'SCHOOL" and now it's reality for sure. The longer you work it's like practicing and you get better and better at it. Also if you work the WORST hall remember if that's the WORST they can throw at you then you ARE doing it. Just one day at a time, and if gets too much you do have help there in your Charge RIGHT??

It's just like starting any other job...as in, it takes awhile to get adjusted to the new enviornment. It will get easier after doing it for awhile, med pass will become easier as you will start memorizing who gets what. Take it one day at a time and in a couple months you'll feel like you've work there forever! 8 months ago I started a new job (RN) at a rehab facility and felt the same way! Now I'm teaching the ppl that have worked there for years stuff! I still don't know everything-NOBODY does! It just takes time, everyone there has gone thru the same feelings. There's days at work I still feel overwhelmed but it gets easier just because you know better what to do and how to handle it. Don't give up just yet...it gets better!
