Overwhelmed and school hasn't even started!!!

I just need to rant a little and express my concerns. I am started school next week and am very worried about it. I can handle the work load, but life seems to be throwing me curve balls. My son goes for a biopsy of his thyroid on Monday. I have a premature granddaughter in Nashville in NICU. My son is in from Iraq because of the baby and a very sick wife. Now, a some friends of ours just lost their 23 year old son in a drowning accident two miles from our home. It took 24 hours to recover the body and the family, friends, and whole community are devastated. He was such a good boy. The whole family is sweet. Any prayer would be highly appreciated.

Why do things like this seem to happen when I am getting ready for school?:banghead:

I believe because the big man upstairs wants to test you, I have had things like that happen to me as well.

I am so very sorry to hear about your friends son, I am holding good thoughts.

What is important is that you remain strong, even when it seems like you want to throw your hands up in the air. Life is never fair, and sickness/death never come at convenient times.

If you need support with school you know where to come.

You can do this!:hgu:

mom4jesus, :icon_hug:I am sorry for all the loss and difficulty you have faced lately.just remember you can still do THIS...it was never promised to be easy (but it WILL be worth it)and I would bet we get a earful of warnings next week in orientation about how difficult it will be ~but dont give up! you got this far and got accepted in to a notoriously selective program...keep on keeping on as they say, only worry about one day or one challenge at a time if that is what it takes to get through it!

I look forward to meeting you at orientation and you can PM or e mail anytime , even if it is just to vent(about the struggles of everyday life and/ or nursing school related)

Sending my prayers and sincerest thoughts your way. Remember, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. The Lord will give you no more than you can handle. Continue in your faith and know that God is always with you. Also know that you are not alone in your struggles. While some of us may not be bearing all the weight and burden that you are struggling with at this time, we can all lend each other support in all of our trials and tribulations. Best of luck.:icon_hug:

Specializes in no specialty! (have to graduate first!).

I am very sorry for your situation. You do have a lot on your plate right now. But keep your head up. And just think, after you graduate in 2 years (and I know you will), your new skills will be able to help the ones you love them most in a whole new way. Nursing school is such a positive in the midst of many negatives. Just remember that and you will do well. Not to mention, if you make several hospital visits to see your family members, you can also use it as an opportunity to observe the nurses and doctors and you may come out of there with some valuable information that will help you in school!

My prayers are with you, your family, and the friends and loved ones of the young man who passed. :redbeathe

I'm so sorry to hear about everything that you are going through and I will say a prayer for you and each and everyone one of those you listed....

This is always the way it goes, isn't it? During my first nursing semester last semester, my daughter went for about 5 weeks where she couldn't go to daycare because she had chronic diarrhea! No one could figure out why, but it went from Mid March til about the end of April and I thought "WHY??????" I believe it is a test...why? Not sure, but you have to somehow, in the middle of all of that make it work...and you will.

Hang in there...it will work. I will pray that your granddaughter and daughter-in-law are much better soon and I am sorry to hear about your friends son...very sad.

Awww, I am so sorry to hear about all your troubles. Please hang in there. Some days, you may have to keep saying to yourself, "just put one foot in front of the other and keep going", but you *will* keep going. And please come here often for support.

Hugs.

I want to thank you all for your support. I am getting ready to go to the showing. I know the Lord has a purpose for all this. Several people are praying that the Lord will use Josh's death for His glory and send a revival among the local young people. He came from a really good Christian family. I would appreciate any prayers going their way.

I am deteremined to go to school, but I have to put my children first. I am praying that the biopsy on my son's thyroid comes back OK and that it isn't anything to worry about. My granddaughter is in excellent hands. Baptist hospital in Nashville has a really good NICU. The nurses are just awesome and really helped us last week. We stayed in the waiting room until my son flew in from Iraq.

All of this just puts doubts in my mind about going to nursing school. My husband is being very supportive and really is encouraging me to go to school. He says that this is the right time and that I would be miserable home alone as my children each leave the nest, which he is right. I already go crazy when they aren't here.

Thanks again to everyone for the encouragment.

I was in a service Sunday night and the sermon was about how God does His greatest work and performs miracles in the darkness....

I pray that is just a short dark time for you and that you (and you family and friends) will be amazingly blessed when you rotate of this darkness and into the light. Everyone has hard times and I hate that this all came at you at once.

I'll pray for you and I'm sure you'll do great in school!
