You guys, you guys, you guys. Sometimes I just feel like I can't do this anymore. I am a single mom, I work full time, and I go to school at night. I am just plain exhausted. I can't seem to save my money like I need to because I often feel as though I deserve to "treat myself". I have been in school ALL MY LIFE. I finshed my B.S. in chemistry in Dec. 2002,took one semester off from school and started taking prereqs for nursing in summer 2003. This fall I am starting nursing school. I just feel bombarded with everything because I am trying to accomplish sooo much. God is extremely good to me, i don't struggle financially (currently) but I just feel like there isn't enough hours in the day to accomplish everything. Everyone wants to know what classes I'm taking this summer. NONE. I am going on a much needed cruise to clear my mind and prepare for nursing school (the real hard stuff). I just needed to vent and I knew that I could come here to get some words of encouragement.
Take a deep breath! Nursing school is very challenging...but if I can do it...so can you!! You may find that you will need to scale back your hours at work. I do not have children, but was only able to work on-call my last year of nursing school due to the immense amount of school work expected of me. I can only imagine how bombarded you must feel. I am similar in that i like to "treat myself"...this is how I deal with my stress. But, if it is causing you to miss out on saving money, maybe just treat yourself 1 time a month or 1 time every 2 months. When you finish nursing school, then you will be able to treat yourself whenever and not feel so guilty!
If you seriously need to save up money, maybe you can put your cruise on hold (unless of course, its already paid for and you cannot get your refund). Hope everything works out for you. We are not superhuman!! Give yourself needed rest breaks...try to cut down on working if you can though! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!! Nursing school has been quite an adventure and I graduate finally next month! :)

You need to take each day as it comes. Is it possible to cut some hours at work? It is hard to study and make sure there is time for the children. Allot a certain time for you and child/ren to do something together. Focus on the goal from there. :)
As far as the cruise goes, It's already paid for and I'm really convinced that I need this vacation. When nursing school starts, I am going to work part-time. I am looking for a scholarship or loan repayment program so that I don't have to work at all. I know that would feel like heaven to not have to worry about working. It's just that right now I'm dipping into my savings for everything. I think I am going to take the money out of my bank savings (that's linked directly to my checking) and put it into the credit union at my job where I don't see it and it's much harder to reach because they are only open for 2hrs, 3days a week. I almost always miss the time that they are open. I know that trying to work and maintain all of this is what is keeping the stress level high. I really don't want to take out any more student loans but I think that I may have to in order to not work while in school. I just need a break. Thank you for listening.
Oh yeah, congratulations TweetiepieRN on your soon to be graduation. You know that I can't wait to get where you are.
Thank you for the congrats! I wish you much luck in your nursing school journey! I have enjoyed nursing school. I can honestly say I have met some wonderful lifetime friends. We are all so supportive of each other....it's great! :)
