Need a little creative help here. I am saving like a crazy woman, so I can quit my job for three months and travel before I go back to graduate school in the fall of 2003. (not this september). So, I am now putting in at least 12 extra hours, sometimes 16 a week. The lucky thing is that when I work OT, I get paid the same as I would if I did agency (No forms to fill out, no strange places to work at, no extra tax forms, I like it) as we are in a staffing emergency. I know it is a choice that I made but I imagine that I may find myself feeling a bit burnt by the end of this saving extravaganza. So if anyone has any tips on how to avoid this OT burn out, I'd love them, the more wacky, the better... SO far I've come up with...

1. be able to start IV's and protocols while asleep because I'll have done it so much...

2. Add a third year of experience, because I will have worked that much...

3. Be able to look at photos of the beach where I'll be living, and reenergize my commitmment.:D

4. have no time to spend any of the extra money I am making, so I will really save:uhoh3: :uhoh3:

5. I won't need any wardrobe for the next ten months because all I will wear is scrubs...

Any other tips or encouragement would be fabulous. I know, I brought it upon myself, so it isn't at all like being mandated, but some helpful hints will defintely be appreciated... (Malawi, here I come.;)

I vote for #'s 3 and 5.....:D

On a serious note, if you can afford it, schedule a WEEKLY 15-30 minute chair massage.....

No doubt! I'd also spring for a pedicure every 2 weeks or so. Best pick-me-up I can think of for not that much$$$

Whenever I got to thinking that "if I ran this place, _______

would be different" and felt snippy with people, :( I knew I did too much OT and needed a "mental health day."

Preferably at the beach.

I totally forgot our hospital does them for a dollar a minute.... I've already signed up, Thanks to you!!!! I appreciate the tips. It's going to be a blast, full of summer accidents...:D
