I am confused about something. Is passing NCLEX determined by the overall correct number of questions OR do you have to be above 50% in all individual categories? For example, let's say my overall score would be a 65, but in some of the individual catagories I had a couple below 50%, does that translate to automatic failure or is it solely based on the cummulative percentage correct?

The NCLEX result really isn't based on attaining a certain percentage of correct responses.
The computer adjusts the difficulty level of the questions with the goal of keeping you at 50% right and 50% wrong. It then looks at the difficulty level required to reach that 50/50 mark and decides pass/fail based on that. (Students who are only getting 50% on easy questions won't pass, while students who are 50/50 on difficult questions will pass.)
