Thank you for this forum!! I've been looking for something I can use my personal experience in and this fits the bill. Until I read on here about CARN's, I was contemplating taking classes to obtain my LADC degree. That is still something I would like to pursue, but so is the Certified Addictions Nurse. I am currently working in an outpatient medication clinic for psychiatric patients and we have an overwhelmingly large population (at least 70% of the clients) who are dual diagnosis. I love getting a client in my chair who has been struggling with sobriety and feels completely lost. And I enjoy getting to congratulate the clients who have just taken their 30-day, 90-day, or one year chip. It's a truly fulfilling job that gives back to me as well. I'm reminded everyday to think about my "gratitude list" and be ever so thankful that I was shown the path of recovery. Thank you again for this wonderful forum and I hope it catches on!

Good luck with your plans, Life_is_good_1973!!!

I, too, am really considering a certification as a substance abuse counselor. The CARN may be something I will consider later...

I am also interested in obtaining certification as a license alcohol and drug counselor. Does anyone know if these classes count towards CEU?
